New – 2nd March 2015

Plenty of things are happening around the club right now as we edge closer to the beginning of the season.
Training was called off last week due to a severe weather warning issued by the BOM. As it turned out most of this bad weather seemed to miss our area however I would to make it clear that at this stage we are “Not allowed to wear Cleats” on the ground. There was a substantial amount of rain that did hit the ground so training in runners was also a factor in my decision.
We do not want any of our players slipping on a wet ground and injuring themself.

School Clinics

Our first School clinic at Malvern Central kicked of this week and went extremely well.
Fortunately we were able to send quality tutors to this clinic with Graeme Minniece being ably assisted by Billy Exton, Toby Exton, and Romy Ansell.
Thanks to those people for their time and efforts and with quality people like that attending school clinics we are once again ahead of the other Gangs.
These clinics are an integral part of our growth but we still need members of all ages to urge their Friends and Relatives to come along and have a go !
I did mention in my last message that we still need more “Senior Players” to put their hand up and even as a once off get a couple of hours of work to help our recruitment team.
It is great to see a life member, who previously conducted the clinics, taking time out of their day to assist the club.
However, we desperately need assistance from the senior playing group.

Announcements !!!

Plenty to talk about this week.
The Under 18 Vic Boys side was announced this week and I am very proud to inform you all that 5 Malvern boys were selected out of 19 in this team.
Nic Chapman, Nick Maher, Tim Graham and cousins Campbell, Darcy and Jordan were fortunate enough to be selected.
Good luck with the tournament boys and as Teddy Whitten once said “Stick it up em Vics”.
I know you will represent your State and Our club in a totally professional manner.

I would also like to mention another one of our boys Daniel Taylor who just missed out.
Danny displayed some fantastic skills and toughness throughout the trials and represented our club with very high esteem. Good job mate !!
I reckon you will be there next year.

The Under 18 Girls team was also announced and I would like to congratulate Georgia Meredith on her selection. I know that mum and dad are very proud of your achievement.
It must have been all the stuff that you learnt at MLC Georgy, so all the best and bring home the title.

Club Building/Planning

We would appreciate if all players could take a moment or two to think or discuss any potential sponsors who may be able to jump on board and support the Red and Black in 2015. As we have previously mentioned, sponsorship and fund raising is a key cog in the wheel to ensure that we are able to keep our playing fees down.
So if everyone would be able to ask their boss, family friends, family, local business whether they would be interested in supporting the club, we would be most appreciative.
The club is able to offer speaking opportunities, website placement for their company and advertising on
game days, amongst other things. If you have anyone who is interested in discussing a potential sponsorship,
big or small, please do not hesitate to email James Garrett.   gazzer32@hotmail.com

Season Start

We have just been given confirmation that the season starts for all grades on the weekend of 11/12 April.
This means we are less than 6 weeks away from the season start.

Fundraising BBQs

As mentioned previously, we also have some Fundraising Bunnings and Masters BBQ coming up.
Once again, we would greatly appreciate a donation of an hour or two by the senior playing group.

That’s all for now and I will keep you posted.
Player’s …… Do some extra running !!!!
“Catch us if you Can”

Cheers Gus

Australian Box Lacrosse 2015

Whilst this was expected to be released on Friday, the ‘unofficial’ official word (a.k.a Facebook) is that Jeff Joy and Dave Gal have been selected to represent Australia later this year.

Also former player Luca Lettieri made the team as well, which means the “Aussie” section of the crowd will be “invigorated” by the legendary Bruno and his cheering!

Good luck to all the guys, we wish them all the very best as they go to the States to compete in this competition.
